Caroline Webb
Easy to Read Magazine Founder and Chief Editor, says:
Easy to Read Magazine is a website.
The texts are easy to read and understand.
The articles are just a bit of fun:
-
pop culture
-
lifestyle
-
curious facts
The articles are enjoyable to read.
Reading the Easy to Read Magazine makes you forget worries.
Easy to Read Magazine is also about inclusion.
Inclusion means everyone can take part in life equally.
This is why I decided to do the Easy to Read Magazine:
Being able to talk about things that are just a bit of fun is important to be included in society.
When friends get together they talk about fun and interesting things.
For example the latest fashion, celebrities, or unusual facts.
People with reading difficulties can read about these topics on the Easy to Read Magazine website.
Then they can join and lead conversations about fun and interesting things.
If talking is difficult, showing the article could work instead.
The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities made rules for the rights of people with disabilities.
One rule is that information must be understandable for everyone.
When they made the rules they probably were not thinking about information that is just a bit of fun.
But I believe that information that is just entertaining is important too.
