Overnight oats are easy to make.

 

They are called overnight oats because you:

1. Add liquid in the evening.

2. Put them in the fridge.

3. In the morning they are soft to eat.


Many people eat oats for breakfast. They are good for our health.


Oats are sold in different types.

Rolled oats are steamed, rolled, and flattened into flakes.

Rolled oats are best for overnight oats because they don’t go mushy.

Overnight Oat Recipes from Quaker

 


Blueberry, banana and pecan overnight oats

What you need:

  • Half cup of oats

  • Half cup milk

  • Quarter cup blueberries


  • Half banana, sliced

  • Quarter cup yogurt


  • 2 tablespoons honey


  • Quarter tsp vanilla extract


  • A pinch of cinnamon

  • Quarter cup pecan nuts, chopped


Mix everything together and leave in the fridge till the next morning.

Horchata overnight oats

What you need:

  • Half cup of oats


  • Half cup almond or rice milk


  • Half teaspoon vanilla extract


  • Half teaspoon ground cinnamon


  • Pinch of ground cloves


  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Half cup vanilla yogurt

  • 
2 tablespoons chopped almonds


  • 1 tablespoon honey


How to make it:

  1. Add oats to a jar.

  2. Whisk these together: Almond or rice milk
 Vanilla extract
 Ground cinnamon
 Pinch of ground cloves

  3. Pour over oats.

  4. Layer with yogurt and some almonds.

  5. Drizzle honey on top and refrigerate overnight.

  6. Leave in the fridge till the next morning.

 


Quick tips for making overnight oats:

  • If you are using 1 cup oats, add 2 cups liquid.

  • Usually, the liquid is milk.

  • If you use too much liquid, it will become like soup.

  • If you use too little liquid, the oats won't become soft.

 


Overnight oats with berries

What you need:

  • Half cup of oats

  • Half cup low fat milk

  • Quarter cup strawberry yogurt

  • Quarter cup chopped strawberries

  • Quarter cup raspberries


How to make it:

  1. Add oats to a jar

  2. Stir in milk.

  3. Layer yogurt and some strawberries.

  4. Sprinkle chia seeds if you have them.

  5. Refrigerate overnight.

  6. Put some raspberries in the freezer overnight.

  7. Take overnight oats out of the fridge in the morning.

  8. Top with frozen raspberries.

 


Overnight oats with peanut butter

What you need:

  • Half a cup of Oats

  • Half cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

  • Quarter teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Half teaspoon cinnamon

  • Quarter cup bananas, sliced

  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter

  • Half tablespoon honey


How to make it:

  1. Add oats to a bowl or glass jar.

  2. Pour in milk.

  3. Mix in vanilla extract and cinnamon.

  4. Add chia seeds if you have them.

  5. Now add a layer of peanut butter

  6. Then add a layer of sliced banana. Continue this way until the jar is full.

  7. Drizzle with honey.

  8. Leave in the fridge overnight.

  9. Enjoy it in the morning.

Kiwi lime pie overnight oats

What you need:


  • Half a cup oats


  • Half cup coconut milk

  • Half cup yogurt


  • 1 teaspoon lime juice


  • 1 kiwi, chopped


  • 1 tablespoon chopped almonds or crushed graham crackers


  • 1 tablespoon honey


  • Half teaspoon lime zest



How to make it:


  1. Add oats to a jar.

  2. Stir in coconut milk. Any other milk will do, too.

  3. Add yogurt and lime juice.

  4. Layer yogurt, then kiwi, then almonds.

  5. Pour honey on top

  6. Refrigerate overnight.

Add the crushed graham crackers just before serving.

You can come up with your own ideas too.


Try mixing different

  • Fruit

  • Nuts

  • Yogurt

  • Milks like almond, coconut, or rice milk

The longer the mixture is left, the softer the oats get.

It’s prettier in a glass because you can see the layers.
